Breastfeeding Support Services
Breastfeeding offers many benefits for moms and their babies – breast milk is a healthy way to feed your newborn. This is also a special time to bond with your baby. As a regional leader in maternity services, Jefferson Abington Hospital offers resources and education to help you get started. We are proud to be a Baby-Friendly hospital, and our lactation consultants will provide information, support and services for mothers during their inpatient stay and/or after leaving the hospital.
Breastfeeding Support Services Warmline
For questions or concerns while breastfeeding, call the Breastfeeding Support Services Warmline at 215-481-6104. The Warmline is monitored by lactation consultants certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Examiners, who will return your call. For urgent needs or questions, please consult your physician.
Breastpump Rental Station
We offer hospital grade breast pumps for rent and hands-free pumping bras. The Breast Pump Rental Station is open Monday through Friday and conveniently located on the fourth floor of the Lenfest Building (East) and easily accessible from the Zipley Garage. Breastfeeding Support Services Outpatient Office
The Breastfeeding Support Services Outpatient Office offers information, support and services for mothers after discharge from the hospital.
Lactation consultants are available to provide expert assistance and help families develop a plan to address a variety of breastfeeding issues or pumping needs including:
- Poor latching
- Poor weight gain
- Pumping issues
- Returning to work
Prenatal consultations are also available for women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
