Specialists in pulmonary medicine manage respiratory conditions including diseases affecting the lungs and airways. These physicians treat diseases such as emphysema, asthma, pneumonia, COPD and other lung conditions. They perform in-depth diagnostic procedures, including fiberoptic bronchoscopy. These specialists who are board-certified in critical care medicine care for patients in Jefferson Abington Hospital's critical care units. The Respiratory Care Department provides testing and therapy for inpatients and outpatients. They perform blood gas testing (ABG) and lung function determinations (PFT).
