Endovascular Aneurysm Repair – EVAR
This procedure treats aortic aneurysm. Surgeons from Jefferson Health – Abington’s Blank Vascular Center perform endovascular aneurysm repair, or EVAR, in a technologically advanced, on-site vascular laboratory.
EVAR Treatment for Aneurysm
Endovascular aneurysm repair is a minimally invasive procedure, requiring only small incisions in the groin.
Using a thin catheter, or tube, our surgeons work through arteries to reach the aorta and maneuver a three-pronged graft to seal off the damaged area. This keeps the aneurysm from bursting. Self-expanding stents (small mesh tubes) hold the graft in place.
Patients may be hospitalized one to three nights. Recovery is achieved in about two to four weeks.
