Support and Managing Your Condition
You are never alone when you are a patient at the Abington Heart and Vascular Institute – Jefferson Health. Our team supports you in understanding your cardiac condition and treatment, managing your on-going care and making healthy lifestyle changes.
Education and Support
Whether you are in the hospital for cardiac care or an outpatient with a heart condition, our nursing staff and cardiac nurse educators can offer supportive information. Our educators help you with resources for disease management, coping, nutrition and reducing risks. Surgical patients also receive education on preparing for surgery and caring for incisions.
Outpatient Cardiac Exercise
Abington exercise facilities can help you build your activity level safely to strengthen your heart. These facilities conduct outpatient rehabilitation after heart treatments and on-going cardiac exercise when rehabilitation is completed. The exercise physiologists and nurses on staff are trained in the needs of those with heart conditions or disease. Cardiac exercise services are located at: Abington Fitness Institute, Abington Health Center – Willow Grove and the Cardiac Fitness Center at Abington – Lansdale Hospital.
Nutrition Counseling Center
Healthy eating can help prevent heart disease and support recovery from illness. It helps you control your weight, increase energy and enhance your sense of well-being. The registered dietitians in our Nutrition Counseling Center provide practical advice on food selection and preparation in individual sessions.
