Aortic Tear

US News & World Report Award

An aortic dissection, or aortic tear, causes bleeding into the heart’s aortic wall. This potentially life-threatening condition may arise from an aneurysm, injury, hardening of the arteries or other cause.

Some aortic tears may be treated with medication. Others require repair by our cardiothoracic surgery experts.
