We are recognized in the Philadelphia region and nationally for surgical excellence in cancer treatment.
Our surgeons are highly skilled in complex cancer procedures, including minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, laser surgery and traditional open surgery.
The Commission on Cancer, American College of Surgeons, gave us its 2012 Outstanding Achievement Award.
Cancer Surgery Expertise
With surgical oncologists (cancer surgeons), breast surgeons, colorectal surgeons, gynecologic oncologists/surgeons, neurosurgeons, thoracic surgeons, genito-urinary surgeons, head and neck cancers surgeons, pancreatic/hepatobiliary cancer surgeons and other specialists, our team is highly experienced in all types of cancer surgery.
Latest Surgical Technology
We have advanced operating suites, with the most up-to-date equipment and technology. This helps us achieve patient safety and the best outcomes.
Some cancer surgeries may use a robotic surgery system. This lets our surgeons better visualize the surgical area and work with electromechanically enhanced instruments for greater dexterity and control.
Robotic and other minimally invasive surgeries are conducted through small incisions. Patients benefit from less blood loss and scarring, less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries.
Patient-Friendly Operating Rooms
Your surgical experience matters to us. Nurses in our operating rooms put patients at ease in a calm and healing environment known as the Sacred Space. You will receive our nurses’ gentle attention, surrounded by soft music, scenic murals and dimmed lighting.
Cancer Inpatient Unit
Sometimes cancer patients must be admitted to the hospital. Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health's dedicated oncology medical/surgical unit has 27 private rooms, with certified oncology nurses and certified chemotherapy nurses who have advanced education in cancer care. They also provide information and emotional support. The unit has no restrictions on visitors by hour or age.
