Stroke Support

If you or someone you care about is recovering from stroke, you may feel alone in trying to understand the immense life changes stroke may cause. The Diamond Stroke Center and Abington – Jefferson Health offer many ways to help.

Outpatient Stroke Support Group – O.U.R. Stroke Club

For stroke survivors, families and friends. Meets second Thursday every month, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health, 3rd floor Neuroscience Conference Room, Widener Building. Registration required: call 215-481-3631 or email

Stroke Program Coordinator

Many questions arise after suffering a stroke or brain injury. Our stroke program coordinator, Colleen Boyle, RN, can help you and your family understand treatment and rehabilitation plans, and navigate the process. She also connects patients with neurology and neurosurgery social workers, case managers and support services. Contact Colleen by email or at 215-481-3631.

Stroke Survivor Volunteer Program

As a survivor of stroke, you have knowledge and experience that can directly support and benefit others. By volunteering, you can lend a helping hand to other stroke survivors and their caregivers. If interested, call Volunteer Services at 215-481-2490. After applying, there is an interview and three-hour volunteer orientation session.

Education for Stroke Patients and Families

Available through The Diamond Stroke Center, on Abington Hospital's patient network: stroke prevention and education. Contact 215-481-3631.

Community Stroke Education and Stroke Risk Assessments

Stroke lectures in community, by request. To schedule a stroke lecture at your workplace, house of worship or community center, call 215-481-3631.
