When to Notify Your Physician

Between 28 and 32 Weeks:

  • Decreased fetal movement.
  • If you are having more than four contractions in an hour that last for more than two hours and do not respond to rest or fluids.
  • If you think water has broken.
  • If you are having any bleeding.

Between 33 and 37 weeks:

  • If you are having more than six contractions in an hour that last for more than two hours and do not respond to rest or fluids.
  • If you think water has broken.
  • If the baby is not moving as much as usual.
  • If you are having any bleeding.

More than 37 weeks:

  • If you are having contractions five minutes apart, lasting at least 45 seconds and getting increasingly more intense
  • If your water has broken (even without contractions.)
  • If the baby is not moving as much as usual.
  • If you are having any bleeding.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call your obstetrician’s office  to speak with a nurse.
