Spa-Like Services Meet Cancer Care with Abington - Jefferson Health’s New Image Recovery Center at Asplundh Cancer Pavilion
ABINGTON, PA (February 24, 2020)- Abington – Jefferson Health is pleased to announce the opening of the Image Recovery Center at the Asplundh Cancer Pavilion. The center is the first of its kind in Montgomery County and one of fewer than 20 Image Recovery Centers nationwide.
The 86,000 square foot Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, home to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Abington – Jefferson Health, offers patients a personalized approach to cancer care – from state-of-the-art treatment options and the latest clinical trials to counseling and support services for patients.
Adding to the full range of services provided is the Image Recovery Center, bringing the amenities of a luxury spa to patients interested in restoring their appearance before, during and after cancer treatment.
“Our staff members are specially-trained to provide professional, high quality services, with careful consideration for patients who may have a compromised immune system or low blood count stemming from cancer treatment,” said Steven J. Cohen, MD, medical director, Asplundh Cancer Pavilion and chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology, Abington – Jefferson Health.
Complimentary services for patients include an initial head shaving, post-treatment hair cut; skin, makeup and wig consultations; and a wig bank for those in need. Other services include: post-mastectomy breast prosthesis fittings, lymphedema treatment; oncology massage therapy; nail, skin and hair care services and more.
Many medically necessary services are covered by insurance. In addition, formaldehyde free nail polish, head coverings and other specialty products are available for purchase.
“We recognize that a cancer diagnosis can affect many aspects of an individual’s life and that doesn’t stop when treatment ends. Through all of our support services, including the Image Recovery Center, our goal is to meet the needs of our patients and help them regain a sense of normalcy,” said Cohen.
The Image Recovery Center is located at the Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, 3941 Commerce Avenue in Willow Grove. The center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
