Abington – Jefferson Health Names New Director of Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official

ABINGTON, PA (September 10, 2020)—Abington – Jefferson Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle M. Pineda, MD, a fellowship trained vascular surgeon, to the role of director of Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official.

In this role, Pineda will oversee the resident training program requirements of more than 130 residents in a variety of specialties including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Surgery and Dentistry. She will also work to ensure program compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. In addition, Pineda continues to provide complex surgical care for patients with vascular conditions including carotid artery disease and aortic aneurysms.

Board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, Pineda joined the medical staff of Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health in 2016. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Villanova University before earning her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a Vascular Surgery fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital.

Pineda has co-authored chapters in textbooks, as well as over a dozen peer-reviewed publications on patient satisfaction and compliance, aortic endoleaks, popliteal aneurysms, dialysis access, duplex ultrasonography, pancreatic cancer and lung cancer.

In addition, she has presented at numerous medical meetings regionally and nationally and was honored by the Pennsylvania Medical Society as one of the "Top Physicians Under 40" in 2018.
