ABINGTON, PA (AUGUST 13, 2019)— Abington – Jefferson Health’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have earned accreditation from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The certifications come in recognition of the programs’ commitment to improving quality of life for patients with enhanced standards of care.

Abington – Jefferson Health’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is for patients who have suffered from a heart attack or other heart condition, and those who have undergone cardiac surgery, while the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is for individuals with chronic respiratory diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer.

Both comprehensive programs include exercise, education, counseling and support with the goal of helping patients recover and transition back to their normal life.

“It is truly an honor for both of our programs to receive this distinguished accreditation. Rehabilitative services are a vital link between inpatient hospital care and an individual’s transition back to independence,” said Meg McGoldrick, president, Abington – Jefferson Health. “This achievement is a testament of our unwavering commitment to providing patients with the best care possible to improve their quality of life.”

AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other related professional societies.

Each program’s application is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee, and certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.
