Abington, PA (October 10, 2019) – Abington – Jefferson Health has earned the 2019 Excellence Award from the Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Performance Excellence (MAAPE), the state-level  Baldrige program.

Mid-Atlantic Alliance for Performance Excellence

Abington has the distinction of being the only organization to have earned the Pennsylvania state Excellence award twice, having first won the Keystone Alliance for Performance Excellence (KAPE) Award in 2010. The KAPE program has since combined with New Jersey and Delaware to form MAAPE.

Proficiency Award on behalf
of his organization.

“It is a tremendous honor for our organization to be recognized with this prestigious award for a second time,” said Meg McGoldrick, president, Abington – Jefferson Health. “We are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, and this recognition underscores our commitment to continuously improve and enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients.”

More than a decade ago, Abington – Jefferson Health began the journey of incorporating the Baldrige Excellence Framework, which is used to evaluate performance excellence and help organizations identify ways to improve processes and results.

The Excellence Award, MAAPE’s highest level of recognition, honors applicants that demonstrate superior levels of performance excellence. These applicants are outstanding examples in the Mid-Atlantic Region and serve as role models for other organizations. In fact, award winners are encouraged to tell their stories and share their best practices with other organizations.

MAAPE applicants represent all industry sectors and are evaluated in seven areas defined by the Baldrige Criteria: leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce; operations and results.

A site visit is required to qualify for the Excellence Award. All organizations receive written feedback reports summarizing organizational strengths and opportunities for improvement.
