AMH Temporarily Reinstates Ground-Based Helipad Outside of
Dear Patients and Visitors:
As a courtesy, we wish to inform you about temporary changes to the hospital’s helicopter landing site.
Due to repairs to the roof of the Toll Pavilion – where the hospital’s helipad is located – Abington Memorial Hospital has temporarily relocated the helipad outside of the Widener Building, adjacent to Horace Avenue. This was the hospital’s former helipad site, prior to the opening of the Toll Pavilion in 1996.
This change will last approximately 12 to 14 weeks and will only occur Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Toll Pavilion rooftop helipad will be used during all other times, including weekends.
During a ground-based helicopter landing, Horace Avenue between Highland Ave and Old York Road will be closed to automobile or pedestrian traffic, as mandated by the Bureau of Aviation’s safety procedures. Staff members from the hospital’s Security and Plant Operations Departments will handle this process, and the street will be reopened as quickly as possible.
We do recognize that this may cause some occasional disruption, and we appreciate your cooperation and patience during this time.
