Gilda's Club Satellite Now Open

ABINGTON, PA (March 28, 2011) — Gilda's Club Delaware Valley has opened a satellite location at Abington Memorial Hospital. The Club provides free cancer support services, such as support groups, workshops, lectures and social events for those living with cancer and their loved ones. The club is open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Garden Training Room, Widener Building, next to the gift shop.

Gilda's Club is named in honor of Saturday Night Live Comedian Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda dreamed that all people affected by cancer, as well as family and friends, would have access to the same kind of emotional and social support that she received during her illness. Gilda's Club serves anyone living with any type of cancer and their families and loved ones through a comprehensive program of cancer support.

"We know how important social and emotional support is to the entire family when someone is going through cancer treatment," says Gilda's Club CEO Kelly Harris. "We are thrilled that we will be able to provide our services on site and have them so accessible for Abington patients."
