Lansdale Hospital Employee Receives Nursing Scholarship Award

(Lansdale, PA) March 8, 2010 — On February 23, 2010, Lansdale Hospital employee Traci Alston, who currently attends the Dixon School of Nursing at Abington Memorial Hospital, was honored for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average in her nursing studies. Her exemplary achievement was recognized with the the Shirley Dennis Scholarship Award at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program, which was held at Abington Memorial Hospital. This annual event includes awards, guest speakers and songs to honor the memory and spirit of Dr. King, Jr. The theme of this year's program was "Leadership through Service."

Traci was awarded as a freshman to inspire excellence to those around her and serves as a role model student. Traci is employed by Lansdale Hospital as a Hyperbaric Technician in the Wound Care Center. She is described by Wound Care Center Program Director Eleni Greene, RN as having "intelligence, dedication, and an impressive work ethic. She is a compassionate caregiver who is exceedingly kind to her patients and always comes to work with a positive attitude and striking smile."

Nursing faculty members at Dixon School of Nursing describe Traci as a highly motivated student who consistently strives to deliver her best in both the classroom and clinical settings. "Her positive attitude and infectious smile makes interaction with patients, hospital staff, faculty members, and fellow students a positive experience."

Before joining the School of Nursing, Traci attended Temple University and Montgomery County Community College where she earned her pre-requisite college science and liberal arts credits.

The facility includes a 24-hour Emergency Department, a 13-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit, two Sleep Centers and a Wound Care Center.
