Dried Fruit Compote

Ingredients
3/4 lb pitted prunes
1/2 lb dried peaches, apples, mangos or pears, or a combination
1/2 cup raisins, dried cranberries or dried cherries
1 lemon, quartered
1/2 cup sugar
1 whole clove
1 cinnamon stick
6 cups water
Directions
- In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients with 6 cups of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cover the pan, reduce heat to low and simmer until tender, 30 to 45 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
- Remove the lemons, clove and cinnamon stick before serving warm or chilled.
