Abington Health’s Ebola Preparedness

All patients at all campuses are being screened for their travel history. Should a patient be identified who meets the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) criteria for further evaluation, a plan is in effect to immediately place the patient safely in isolation.
The Abington Health screening criteria are as follows:
- Travel within 30 days to West Africa, AND
- Fever
Should a patient be identified, appropriate precautions will be taken by staff, and the patient will be directed to one of our emergency rooms.
The Epidemiology Department is in constant communication with the Department of Health and is abreast of the most current recommendations published for the safe care of patients suspected of or found to have Ebola Virus Disease.
