Abington – Jefferson Health
Center for Clinical Research
Knowledge is power. How can we help you?
Did you know that Abington – Jefferson Health conducts/opens more than 100 clinical research studies each year? If you or a loved one has a condition that has not benefited from standard medical treatment, it's important to know that there are many options available through clinical research studies at Abington and its affiliated physician practices. In fact, we have a Center for Clinical Research to facilitate all our ongoing research endeavors.
Cooperative Group Trials
Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health participates in medical research through nationally recognized collaboratives such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group. Many of our clinical trials involve innovative treatments for a wide range of cancers.
These studies involve new medications or devices, such as treatment for arthritis or cardiology devices.
This type of research is created by physicians and scientists, who serve as lead investigators in the studies.
Abington Hospital, through its membership in nationally recognized consortiums such as the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, is able to offer patients the opportunity to participate in additional research studies.
For patients and their families, these research protocols offer access to new or experimental treatments not readily available at many hospitals. And every clinical trial has its own contact person, so you’ll be speaking to a medical professional who is integrally involved in the individual study.
Additional trials become available every month. It’s best to visit our clinical trials page often to learn about our latest research investigations. You’ll find what’s available regarding a wide range of conditions, with frequent updates and other important information.
