We highly recommend this class to expectant mothers.
Classes are held virtually on Mondays.
Our Prenatal Yoga Classes are taught by an experienced certified Prenatal Yoga instructor. This class is for expectant mothers who are both non- experienced and yoga practitioners. Participants will learn basic poses and movements to build strength, flexibility, breathing awareness and relaxation. All are important to help moms with comfort during the pregnancy and labor. You will learn how to alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy, such as back pain, hip pain, sciatica, heartburn, and swelling. You will need a yoga mat and bottle of water. The instructor will send an e-mail with additional information and the link for the class.
Our yoga classes are for expectant mothers only.
Mary Duffy, M.Ed., RYT500, C-IAYT, teaches the Prenatal Yoga classes for Abington Jefferson Health, presently on Zoom. She has been teaching Prenatal and Mom and Infant Yoga for over 20 years and is a certified Yoga Therapist and teacher. She describes the Benefits of Prenatal Yoga in the following way:
Participating in prenatal yoga classes gives a woman the opportunity to participate more fully in her pregnancy. Through the physical asana practice of prenatal yoga, the pregnant woman gains awareness of her body, becoming strong, flexible, and tuned in as her baby grows from week to week. Regular practice will help alleviate common discomforts that arise throughout her pregnancy. Breath practices enable her to relax mind and body and prepare for labor. While prenatal yoga does not guarantee the ideal birth experience, it offers a woman the physical, mental, and emotional support through a very miraculous time in her life.
