Danielle Carr, MD was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Bucks County. She attended Nazareth Academy High School and then moved to Florida for her undergraduate studies. She received her B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Spanish from Florida Southern College. She then attended medical school at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine as a member of the SELECT Program. During residency, Dr. Carr was elected to Vice Chair and then Chair of Pennsylvania for ACOG Junior Fellows District III. In this role, she was an advocate for women's healthcare, including lobbying for Maternal Mortality legislation, both at the local level in Harrisburg and at the National level in Washington, DC. She currently serves as one of the two Administrative Chiefs for the residency program. Dr. Carr matched to the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Program at Mount Auburn/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Carr's happy place is at the beach, and she frequently escapes there when she has time off from the hospital.
Perrin Downing, MD was born in New Orleans, and then moved to Wilmington, Delaware when she was 11 years old. She received 12 varsity letters in high school, playing volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse at Wilmington Friends School. She continued lacrosse as well as her Quaker education at Haverford College. She majored in Biology and minored in Neuroscience. Fun fact: Dorothea Letner and Perrin went to college together and were in the same thesis lab where they played with e.coli and c.elegans together! Perrin then went to VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, VA where she was actively involved as Vice President of her class and Secretary of the medical student government. She went into OB/GYN for the mix of medicine and surgery. Perrin matched into FPMRS at The Ohio State University and will be starting Urogynecology fellowship in July 2021. You can often catch Perrin eating sprinkles and she loves to hang out with her friends, family and co-residents when she isn't at work! Perrin serves as our Wellness Chief.
Grace Levine, MD was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her B.S. in Spanish from the University of Michigan and attended medical school at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Some of her favorite pastimes include tennis, yoga, and hiking. Grace enjoys exploring other cultures, and one of her interests is traveling and learning foreign languages. Her passions include Michigan football and her dog, Theo.
Katie Ruymann, MD grew up in Southern New Jersey with blueberries and pine trees! She went to Middlebury College in Vermont where she played soccer and majored in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with a minor in hiking and skiing. After graduation, she came back to Philadelphia to do transitional research in allergy and immunology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for two years. She then attended Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, New Jersey, drawn to their strong social justice mission. Katie loves her time at Abington and plans to pursue a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine after graduating residency. Her research interests include obstetric emergency simulation as well as patient safety and quality. When not in the hospital, Katie loves to be outside in the sun!
Macy VanArnam, MD was born in Ogdensburg, New York. She earned her B.S. in Biology at Elmira College and attended medical school at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. Some of her favorite pastimes include music, camping and traveling.
Jessica Cheung, MD was born in Hong Kong. She earned her B.S. in Biology at the University of Oregon and attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Some of her favorite pastimes in hula hooping tricks, rocking climbing and gardening.
Mahsa Hamedi, MD was born in Tehran, Iran. She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Biochemistry and attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Some of her favorite pastimes include skiing, snowmobiling, water sports and hiking. She also loves cooking, gardening and traveling.
Kacey Hamilton, MD was born and raised in a small rural community in eastern Illinois. Kacey’s family owns and operates a grain and livestock farm and has done so for many generations. As a teenager, she spent many sleepless nights delivering Piglets on the farm – Kacey said, “It’s no surprise I ended up in OB/GYN!” Kacey attended undergraduate and Medical School at Southern Illinois University. Kacey said, “I came to Abington for Residency to train in an environment that was supportive of family planning and clearly had a passion for offering the full breadth of reproductive healthcare to the patient's at the OB/GYN Center”. Her primary interests are in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Family Planning. She hopes to take the training she has received in PA back to the Midwest, to expand access to care through patient care and to train future OB/GYNs. When not in the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Kacey and her husband have two fur-babies, Kona and Hilo who they enjoy taking on hikes along the Wissahickon. They also love traveling and cooking - especially making new recipes and trying new restaurants or cuisines!
Tanvi Joshi, MD was born in Thane, India. She earned her B.S. in Biology from The Ohio State University and attended medical school at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Tanvi enjoys tennis, and in high school, she played as #1 doubles and was affectionately known as the “Tanvinator”. Some of her hobbies include rollerblading and glass painting, with a preference for scenic landscapes inspired by real life imagery.
Keely Robinson, MD was born in Ohio, grew up in the South, and now proud to be a Pennsylvanian. After meeting all the residents at Abington she said, “ I knew it was my first choice and I'd choose it first all over again!” She earned her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and Chemistry from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine. Some of her favorite pastimes include international travel, running, yoga and cooking. She also enjoys watching football with her husband and playing with her dogs, Duke and Sam, as well as spending time with the newest addition to her family, her son, Graham.
Lauren Burton, MD was born in Hartford, Connecticut. She earned her B.A. in Biology, Studio Art and Art History from Colgate University and attended medical school at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Her passions include oil painting, Yuoga, baking and developing new recipes and traveling. Lauren is also a thrill seeker. She loves bungee jumping, skydiving and scuba diving.
Angela Carracino, DO was born in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey. She earned her B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Exercise Physiology and Chemistry from the University of Miami and attended medical school at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Her favorite pastimes include mastering the Philly food scene, reading, exercising, cooking and baking, happy hour, and promoting New Jersey as the best state.
Dorothea Letner, MD was born in Natick, Massachusetts. She earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Neuroscience from Haverford College and attended medical school at Albany Medical College. In her spare time, Dorothea loves to be outside as much as she possibly can. She and her husband were both competitive athletes in college and love to be active on the weekends. They have really enjoyed taking advantage of Philadelphia’s extensive trail systems since moving here for residency. They also love to be active when traveling because it allows them to enjoy their other favorite pastime, food. Their favorite way to learn about a new place is through food, and they love to experiment with recipes they have learned about on their travels in their own kitchen.
Alisha Sangal, MD was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree in Honors Biology at the University of Toledo and matriculated into The University of Toledo College of Medicine through the 7-year Bacc/MD Program. As a lifetime Ohioan, she was thrilled to embark on a new adventure in PA and to be a part of the Abington family. Dr. Sangal's hobbies include baking, gardening, and everything Bollywood and Hollywood. She has been practicing Bollywood dance from a young age. Her professional interests lie in reducing healthcare disparities among underserved populations on a national and global scale. She has participated in numerous medical mission trips, especially in Latin America, to provide medical care to underserved populations. She is considering a fellowship in global health and plans to continue medical mission trips after graduating residency.
Madeline Smith, MD was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs. Madeline graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology of Global Health and a minor in Economics. She then went on to earn her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Her love for obstetrics and gynecology comes from her passion for reproductive choice and the combination of medicine and surgery within the specialty. Moreover, delivering babies is not so bad either! In her spare time, Madeline enjoys running, reading, hiking and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Orchid Abar, MD was born in Millburn, New Jersey where she solidified her interest in medicine as an EMT at her volunteer first aid squad. She went on to study Biology and Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis. There, she conducted translational research on how advanced glycation leads to osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. She discovered her passion for all the Philadelphia area has to offer when she attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine. At Drexel, Orchid joined a rock band to raise money for AID’s research, enjoyed leading the American Medical Women's Association, and spent her free time exploring the many vibrant local breweries of Philadelphia. Orchid was elated to match at Abington - Jefferson Health, where she could continue to live in her favorite city and serve a diverse patient population. Dr. Abar chose Abington for its unparalleled OB/GYN training from outstanding faculty, exceptional facilities for resident training including multiple simulation rooms, and the department's unswerving commitment to evidence-based and compassionate care. In her free time, Dr. Abar loves spending happy hours with her co-residents, hiking in Wissahickon Valley Park, relaxing at the Jersey Shore and visiting her friends in nearby cities such as New York and Baltimore.
Mackenzie Cummings, MD was born in Cicero, New York. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry with a Psychiatry minor from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Mackenzie earned her medical agree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Some of her favorite pastimes are long distance running, hiking, figure skating, and snowmobiling and boating with her family in upstate NY. She enjoys reading, especially thrillers and historical fiction, bingeing Netflix, exploring local businesses including restaurants and breweries, and love dogs.
Evan Fitzgerald, MD was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up moving around the country in a Navy family. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and then attended medical school at Florida State University, spending his clinical years in Orlando, FL. Dr. Fitzgerald has a passion for obstetrical care and surgical cases. He is excited to work as a generalist and build relationships with patients, and to be involved in medical education. His favorite things include cooking, exercise, working out, traveling, outdoors/hiking, snowboarding, dogs, microbreweries, and food trucks. He and his wife welcomed a baby girl prior to starting residency and he delivered his own baby boy as an intern.
Sarah Gleberman, MD was born in Tokyo but sadly moved to New York City before she was old enough to have learned any Japanese. She attended college at Stanford University, where she studied Human Biology with a minor in Science Communication. Sarah spent a year working at a federally qualified health center in Silicon Valley before moving back to the East Coast to attend Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, NJ. Her Ob/Gyn interests include family planning, women’s health education, and reproductive rights advocacy. When she is not answering her pager or draining Bartholin’s gland abscesses, she enjoys yoga, HGTV, and the New York Times crossword.
Kara Kolar, MD grew up in the Philadelphia area and attended Penn State University where she studied Biology and minored in Spanish. She then moved to Philly where she earned her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and discovered her interest in women's health. She is currently exploring her passions in the field of OB/GYN but in the meantime is relishing in the joy of bringing little babies into the world. When she is not in the hospital, she can be found in her kitchen trying out a new recipe, deep in competition over a game night with friends, enjoying the outdoors, or in pursuit of the next addition to her plant collection.
