Program Organized Events
Yearly in the fall all interns are given protected time to attend a retreat together at a local country club overnight. In this relaxed atmosphere, our interns bond and reflect on their firsts as a resident. Small group sessions are facilitated by outside consultants to ensure any needs are addressed. Spouses are welcome to join!
Women in Medicine Dinner
Yearly, organized by our program, we encourage all female residents to gather together at a local restaurant for dinner to celebrate, share and bond over their experience amongst friends.
Yearly, organized by the hospital, we celebrate the achievements of long tenured attending physicians at Abington Hospital with an annual Frobese award dedicated to a physician for exceptional service and dedication the hospital.
Fall Fest Potluck
Yearly, our program coordinator organizes a gathering for all residents to spend time together and celebrate the transition to fall! Food is gathered potluck style with a goal at the end to carve the best looking pumpkin.
Yearly, the hospital organizes a holiday lunch and/or dinner around the holiday break for all staff in the entire hospital! Join us with eggnog at the door and shake the hands (before COVID) of our hospital administration including our CEO.
Yearly, our program organizes a bowling party before the holiday break for residents to gather and enjoy a night of food and bowling together! Join us for a night full of laughs, slips and falls while we show off just how good we are at bowling.
Department Winter Party
Yearly, our department organizes a formal dinner and dance party at a local country club to celebrate another successful end to the calendar year. Residents enjoy the food and dance the night away!
Yearly, our program coordinator organizes a potluck luncheon where all residents bring in a dish to celebrate the transition into spring!
Yearly, our associate program director plans an international dinner for all residents to celebrate our diversity and cultures with each other. Of course, lots of food and sunshine always makes this day better!
Water Ice Party
Yearly, our program coordinator organizes a treat for the residents: water ice! Served in various flavors by all of our favorite people including our program director, core faculty and the chief residents.
Resident Appreciation Day
Yearly, the department of graduate medical education organizes Resident Appreciation Day, where we celebrate the accomplishments of residents at a local country club. We take photos, have a nice dinner and enjoy each other’s company amongst medicine and specialist attending physicians that you work with at the hospital. Prior to dinner, sporting events including Cricket, soccer and spa time to help the residents unwind after a busy year.
Yearly, our program coordinates an awards luncheon to celebrate the residents as a group and to hand out awards to outstanding resident and attending educators.
Yearly, our program coordinates a special graduation dinner for the graduating class of residents and preliminary interns to come together and celebrate this wondrous accomplishment with our core faculty.
