A student must be in good academic standing and have successfully completed the 3rd year core clinical clerkships at their respective medical school. JHA has no observership opportunities for international medical graduates.

Two-week electives are not available.


Requests for elective rotations are accepted beginning in March and are accepted throughout the year. Students from JHA affiliate institutions, Jefferson and PCOM may register for electives rotations by completing the student elective request form. If the rotation is available, you will receive an elective confirmation and request to submit further information. If you have any questions or want to check on the availability of an elective rotation, please contact Joanne Cardamone. Students not from affiliated schools should contact Joanne via email for rotation availability.


Please do not contact the course directors for availability. However, questions about course content may be sent to the listed course director or Dr. DeLiana.

On Your First Day

Reporting times may vary monthly. Students are scheduled to report between 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Notice will be sent out 1 week prior to the rotation start date with instructions and time as well as where to report on the first day. Should a mandatory class meeting interfere with the usual first day instructions on the part of your school, please contact the student coordinator immediately for alternative dates and times.

Orientations will be held in Conference Room 2B or Dixon Classroom A. This information and directions to these rooms will be included in your welcome email from the IM medical student coordinator.
