Caring for the Underserved – Jefferson Health – Abington Clinics

Health Services for the Uninsured and Underinsured

Jefferson Health – Abington is committed to serving as the most trusted healthcare partner for all. We work hard to ensure that everyone has access to the health care they need. In addition to 24/7 emergency treatment, medically necessary healthcare services are available to all individuals regardless of race, color, creed, gender, sexual preference, national origin or ability to pay.

We address unmet needs of vulnerable populations, the poor, minorities, and other underserved groups through our community benefit programs.

Patients with financial needs may be eligible for Jefferson Health – Abington's financial assistance program after completing the application and supplying the appropriate paperwork.

The following are listings of those programs, as well as other programs in the area with which Jefferson Health – Abington is a partner.

Primary Care

North Hills Health Center

When our community experienced the outbreak of COVID-19 in March, the North Hills Health Center closed in an effort to control the spread. Many doctor’s offices in the region closed and many switched to telehealth appointments using smartphones or computers. After much thought and consideration, it has been decided that the North Hills Health Center will remain closed and permanently consolidated with Abington Family Medicine to better serve our patients. This decision is consistent with multiple consolidations of Jefferson Medical Group office sites.

Patients of Nurse Practitioner Susan Long, CRNP can continue to see her for their health care needs at another location, Abington Family Medicine, 500 Old York Road in Jenkintown. Importantly, at this location, there are multiple clinicians who can cover services if she is unavailable. In addition, there are a wide variety of support services at Abington Family Medicine that were not available at the North Hills location. Please read more about Abington Family Medicine below.
