Volunteering at Abington – Lansdale Hospital

Our volunteers perform tasks in virtually every area of the building. They greet visitors, deliver flowers to patients and serve 36 departments in the hospital. So many tasks, so many people, so many lives are touched by a simple gift - the gift of you. We hope you will consider sharing your time, talents, caring and dedication with us and all the members of our hospital family. We believe you'll find your life enriched through your service to others. Be assured each hour you spend as a volunteer at Abington – Lansdale Hospital – employee, patient, visitor or volunteer – will go far toward helping us meet the needs of our friends and neighbors.

How to Join Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Abington – Lansdale Hospital. Please note you must be at least 14 years of age to volunteer.

Abington – Lansdale Hospital accepts applications on a rolling basis. Please be sure to print legibly on the application as all invites are sent via Signup Genius using your email address. If you do not have email, please have updated contact information listed on your application. The following will be considered for a volunteer position: enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, a desire to enrich each patient’s experience, and a strong sense of community. You will also need a government-issued ID (passport or driver’s license as an example), current medical insurance information, and your social security number-which is required to complete a mandatory background check on all potential volunteers.

All potential volunteers are required to attend new volunteer orientation. Potential volunteers will need to be interviewed and offered a position before attending orientation. Orientations are held on a monthly basis as needed.

All potential volunteers will also be required to prove immunity to mumps, measles, rubella, and chicken pox, and a recent (within the last year) PPD test. The PPD test is used to determine if someone has developed an immune response to the bacterium that causes tuberculosis (TB). Volunteers are also required to receive an annual seasonal flu vaccine. Annual seasonal flu vaccinations are provided free of charge at Abington – Jefferson Health.
