About Abington – Jefferson Health's Auxiliary Volunteer Program
Abington's auxilians assist the hospitals and the Dixon School of Nursing primarily through fundraising and community relations efforts. Abington is supported by many different auxiliaries, loosely organized by geographic location, interests of members or affiliation with the medical staff. These auxiliaries, along with the Women's Board that they support, have raised millions of dollars since their inception.
Benefits of Volunteering
Becoming a member of an auxiliary provides you with the opportunity to work on one or more of the many fundraising events that benefit the hospitals. It will give you the chance to use your current skills and to develop new ones as you assist with these efforts.
You will derive satisfaction from knowing that your contributions of time and talent are helping to provide needed equipment to many hospital departments, scholarships to deserving nursing students and necessary services to the patients and the community. In your volunteer role, you will have the chance to interact with the community, make new friends and have fun!
Auxiliary Volunteer Opportunities
Auxilians have the opportunity to contribute their time and talents to many Women's Board fundraising events and projects. These include:
- June Fete Village Fair and Horse and Pony Show
- Nurses' Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show
- Art in the Atrium
- ...and many other events
Becoming a member of an auxiliary allows you to contribute as much of your time and talent as your schedule permits. The only requirement for membership is payment of nominal annual dues in order to receive all auxiliary communications. However, attendance at auxiliary meetings is encouraged. These allow you the chance to learn about the fundraising events and programs sponsored by the Women's Board and supported by the auxiliaries, participate in fun programs and make new friends. Participation in auxiliary and Women's Board events is also encouraged.
