My AMH Story Masthead

Diane Curran

I grew up on the corner of Cumberland and Woodland Roads and lived in Abington for about 25 years. I remember when the Woodland Garage was built - we thought it was so high! My friends and I climbed the stairs and looked out over the heart of the town and thought we were very cosmopolitan to have such an urban view of things in suburbia.

I also remember coming home from school (Highland Elementary and later Abington Junior and Senior High Schools) and occasionally stopping into the hospital, because I knew I'd always get a good after school snack from one of the old-fashioned Horn and Hardart type of machines, in the vending machine alcove near the present day fitness center, that housed fresh sandwiches and slices of pie - just put in your coins, rotate the display, push the button and enjoy!
