My AMH Story Masthead

Dawn Lowenstein

Volunteer

I have been a Volunteer for AMH since May 14, 2010 and I absolutely LOVE being a part of the Volunteer Team! On May 17th, 2010, I started in TemPower, working under the direction of Jean Kramer. In August of 2010, I started working working in the Cancer Registry in the Rosenfeld Cancer Center on Widener 1 & in October of 2012, I started helping out in Nutrition & have added Mondays, Thursdays & sometimes Fridays to helping out in Nutrition.

Because of expanding my time, that has helped me to roll up my hours and receive my service pins! I will be receiving my 2000 pin in 2014! In 2012, the happiest memory was being featured in the Volunteer Voice newsletter for baking for the Volunteer Resources Office and also being featured in the Bing. My cardiologist, Dr. Adam M. Cohen graciously took the time to call me personally and congratulate me on this recognition! On October 3rd, 2013, the Nutrition Dept. presented me with a sheet cake congratulating me for being featured as a Field Editor Focus for Taste of Home Newsletter for September 2013! In the Volunteer Voice for the Fall Newsletter, there were photos of some of the Volunteers present at the Volunteer Recognition Brunch & Jean Kramer, Carole Molish & myself were among those photoed & featured!

I have met a number of lovely people wherever I've worked and I am proud to be a part of the Volunteer Team at Abington Memorial Hospital! It has been such a positive experience for me! I've had the pleasure of attending the recognition brunches & the holiday parties! Of course, I thoroughly LOVE to bake & prepare simple candies for the Nutrition Dept. & CA Registry & also Volunteer Resources! From time to time, I've also taken treats to the Abington Medical Specialists (for Dr. Adam M. Cohen & the office staff) office! I've also helped to wrap the plasticware the the holiday luncheons from 2010 up to the present time! I recall helping to sell poinsettias in 2011 in the cafeteria under TemPower! So these assignments have kept me busy & being a part of the behind-the-scenes areas in the hospital! I've had the pleasure of knowing the various folks in the Volunteer Resources Office as well – first Stephanie Schaeffer & Ann McClenaghan, then Trish Stafford, Elizabeth Bell & Diane Curran who now manages the Volunteer Resources Office & Chris Tierney who is now directing the dept.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the hospital team!
