Kind Pediatric Hospice Program
About Kind Pediatric Hospice
Jefferson Health’s Kind Pediatric Hospice program is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to children and their families for serious illness through the end of life.
Our inpatient unit, which offers specially designed pediatric rooms and a dedicated family lounge, is devoted to children from newborns to young adults. The staff provides care for children in the advanced stages of illness, including cancer, congenital conditions, neurological diseases, genetic conditions, HIV/AIDS and traumatic injuries.
In-home pediatric hospice care is also available through our Home Hospice Care Services at 215-481-5800.
This program is made possible by the generosity of Patricia Kind and other community philanthropic support.

What is Hospice Care?
The focus of hospice care is the child and the family rather than the disease - emphasizing quality of days through comfort directed care rather than length of life. Hospice offers family-centered care involving the patient and loved ones in decision-making and honoring choices.
Our top priority is to ensure that we improve the quality of days through excellent pain and symptom management. We achieve this goal by allowing children and their families to have care in the environment of their choice by offering complementary therapies to enhance comfort, play and functioning, as well as providing counseling to improve coping abilities for families.
Hospice care is provided by our team of specially trained professionals and volunteers who work tirelessly together to offer comprehensive comfort care, including social, emotional and spiritual support. Attending physicians, patients and family members join with our team to develop a plan of care that meets the needs and wishes of our young patients.
