Camp Charlie - Safe Harbor’s No-Cost Bereavement Camp

Camp Charlie, a week-long day camp for bereaved children ages six to 12, will be held Monday June 19th through June 23rd at the Burn Brae Creative Arts Day Camp located near Abington Health Center- Willow Grove. Staff, volunteer facilitators and teen buddies lead campers through a week of healing and fun. Activities and challenges are used to guide and enhance the healing process for both campers and buddies. Art is used to memorialize, drama/movement to tell the story, and music and song writing to say goodbye.

Camp Charlie Fun

Registration priority is given to campers who have not yet attended camp. Please Note: Due to the ever increasing enrollment numbers, campers who have already attended 2 or more camps will be placed on a “Return Camper Hold List” and you will be notified of acceptance by May 15th. This is to ensure adequate space for new campers; allowing more children to be served by this healing program.

Fun Activities

Fun challenge activities provide an opportunity to build trust and communication skills. On the final day of Camp Charlie, campers, buddies and family members gather for service of remembrance.

"I was nervous that camp would be too emotional, however, the girls thought it was the best camp ever." – Parent

"I have to say I loved every minute of camp. I have never been around so many kids who also lost a parent." – Camper
