Stroke Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is an important part of stroke care, beginning while patients are still in the hospital. Our stroke recovery and rehabilitation expertise helps stroke patients regain abilities for daily life and work activities.

Types of Stroke Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation services are personalized to meet each patient’s needs. Physical therapy helps strengthen walking and balance. It reduces weakness in arms, legs or hands, may restore some lost vision and can improve overall physical functioning.

Occupational therapy enables patients to reach or hold objects, regain daily skills and prepare for return to work or home. Speech therapy helps stroke patients with speaking problems or swallowing difficulties.

Rehabilitation Care

To improve recovery from stroke, we encourage patients to use recommended inpatient stroke rehabilitation, adaptive devices, home exercises, self-care and outpatient rehabilitation.

Abington Health has five convenient locations for outpatient rehabilitation. To schedule an appointment, call 215-481-2160.
