Monthly Support Group

The Bariatric Surgery Support Group offers an open forum for bariatric patients to discuss and share their experiences. The group is available to pre- and post-operative patients or for those considering weight loss surgery. A nurse and dietician are always present to provide resources and answer questions.

Support group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Frobese Auditorium, Lenfest Pavilion, Abington Memorial Hospital, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.

Walk From Obesity

Join the Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for our annual 5K Walk From Obesity, sponsored by Abington Memorial Hospital and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Obesity Action Coalition (OAC). Proceeds benefit obesity education and research.

According to the American Heart Association, over one-third of U.S. adults are obese; for children ages two to 19, one in three are overweight or obese. It is the goal of IMBS and the ASMBS to help individuals live happy, healthy and active lives by promoting educational and supportive programs that will improve public health and well-being by lessening the burden of obesity and related diseases throughout the world.

Location: Abington Health Center – Schilling, 2701 Blair Mill Road, Willow Grove, PA

Time: Registration – 8:30 a.m., Walk – 10 a.m.

Fee: $25 per person or $35 the day of the event. Kids 12 and under are free.
