ABINGTON, PA (July 25, 2016) – Abington – Jefferson Health is pleased to announce that it has received a $100,000 grant from the VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn for the third year in a row. These funds will support its Dental Care Access Program, which offers quality and accessible dental care to low-income families in the region.

On Thursday, July 21, VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn board members, dentists providing care through the Dental Care Access Program and E. Steven Moriconi, DMD, president of the Montgomery Bucks Dental Society, came together in honor of this successful program. The VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn presented the Montgomery Bucks Dental Society and Abington – Jefferson Health with plaques to honor both partners of the Dental Care Access Program. Michael Wong, DDS, Richard J. Galeone, DDS and Katie M. Lapps Wert, DMD, all participating dentists, received a certificate thanking them for their participation. All other participating dental practices will also be receiving certificates to acknowledge their contributions to patients and the program.

The Abington Dental Care Access Program, which launched in October 2014, is designed to provide dental services to uninsured patients and those who have Medicaid. Through the program, dental care is provided in the offices of 46 participating dentists at 27 locations in the North Penn region of Montgomery County from the Montgomery Bucks Dental Society. These dentists provide a full range of dental services, which are subsidized by Abington through the VNA Foundation grant dollars. Services provided include cleanings, root canals, scaling, extractions, crowns, fillings, partials, anesthesia, X-rays and sealants. In the fiscal year 2016, 42 children and 174 adults were served through this program, accessing $90,000 worth of services.

“Abington – Jefferson Health is thankful for the VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn’s continued support of this very important community benefit program,” says Meg McGoldrick, president, Abington – Jefferson Health. “Their support has made this program a vital part of dental care throughout the region.”
