Abington Health Hospice Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

Warminster, PA (April 18, 2014)—Abington Health Hospice celebrated the fifth anniversary of the in-patient hospice unit on its Warminster campus which provides end-of-life care to adults and children, and their families. Abington Hospice at Warminster offers comfort and dignity to enhance the quality of life for patients at the end of their lives.

Designed to embrace the patient, family and visitors, Abington Hospice at Warminster is a beautiful, inpatient hospice unit, which provides end-of-life care in a comfortable, home-like and tranquil environment for patients and loved ones.

Located on the third floor of the main building, Abington Health Center-Warminster, this 18-bed, state-of-the-art, medical facility offers inpatient, routine and respite level of care for patients who are unable or choose not to receive hospice services at home.

Through a generous donation from Patricia Kind in 2012, three rooms on the hospice unit were redesigned to accommodate the end-of-life needs of children of varying ages. The rooms and an adjoining sitting area were renamed Kind Pediatric Hospice Services, which is the only in-patient hospice unit for children in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Hospice QuiltTo celebrate the unit’s five-year milestone, a quilt was hand-made by staff and volunteers. Over 70 squares were stitched together by volunteer, Carol Knitter, to create the commemorative quilt. Hospice volunteers and staff were asked to make a fabric quilt-square to reflect their experiences, work and the lives they have touched since the unit opened.

“The quilt was a team effort – as it is on the hospice unit. Staff and volunteers are engaged every day, putting love into the care of our patients and families,” said Lynn O’Brien, director, Abington Health Hospice. The unit has cared for hundreds of patients and families since it opened. “We live for every patient and family, every day.”

Abington Hospice at Warminster is located at 225 Newtown Road, Warminster, PA. For more information about Abington Hospice at Warminster, please call 215-441-6831.
