Each year in the fall, the interns are given a 24 hour period off duty. They and their spouses gather together at a local facility for an overnight stay. In a relaxed atmosphere, they socialize, bond, and reflect on life as a first year resident. Issues and selected topics are discussed and facilitated by our staff and outside consultants.
Water Ice Party
Residents are treated to a Water ice party once a year, usually in late spring. Various flavors are scooped and served to the Resident by the Program Director, Coordinator and a handful of our Core Faculty members.
Women in Medicine Dinner
We encourage our female residents to gather together at a nearby food establishment for dinner. This time away from the hospital provides these women with a chance to share their stories with one another. A fun night of sharing, bonding and eating amongst colleagues and friends.
Resident Appreciation Day
Each year in May, all programs gather together to play during the day in such events like Cricket, Golf, Soccer and Kickball. Some even enjoy some SPA time and enjoy dinner in the evening. A great day set aside to appreciate all the hard work that is done throughout the year by all of our amazing residents.
Resident Pot Luck Lunch
Residents, faculty and staff are all encouraged to bring a covered dish to share for lunch. The spread is very unique and enjoyed by all.
Resident Bowling Party
Just before winter break, we like to unwind a bit with some friendly competition and a whole lot of laughter. We gather together at a local bowling facility for a few games and food. A nice way to wrap up the first six months of residency.
Department of Medicine Winter Holiday Party
One of the highlights of the year where the residents, faculty and staff enjoy a nice dinner and dancing for an evening outside the hospital.
Hosted by one of the core faculty members each year, this "pot-luck" dinner is where residents, faculty and staff of the residency program and their families gather and enjoy a great feast of varied and delicious cuisines.
