Fellow Life

Abington, Pennsylvania is home to over 3,000 successful businesses, including Abington Memorial Hospital, which is the town's largest employer, maintaining over 5,500 individuals in the healthcare industry. Rich in history, the central corridor of Abington was laid out by William Penn, and the first records of the town's emergence date back to 1696. Abington Township was named "One of America's Best Places to Live" by Money Magazine. Abington offers an abundance of cultural, recreational, shopping and dining opportunities. Communities within the township include Willow Grove, Roslyn, Glenside, Rydal, North Hills and Meadowbrook.

Public Transportation

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) bus and rail lines provide the community with easy access to points within eastern Montgomery County and Philadelphia.

Shopping

Several community and neighborhood shopping facilities are located throughout the township. The nearest major shopping mall is the Willow Grove Park Mall located in the northwestern corner of the township. Within a block of the hospital is a small shopping center that includes a Giant Supermarket, Target, three restaurants, some local chain stores and two banks.

AMH Employee Fitness Center

Located on the ground floor of the hospital, the Fitness Center is open twenty-four hours a day for use by all hospital personnel.

Resident Organized Events Monthly

Residents and fellows gather in various local and center city Philadelphia locations to relax and have fun together outside the hospital. When time permits, some residents gather for cricket and basketball games. Annually, the department invites the residents and fellows to a holiday party, international dinner and annual welcome resident picnic.

The Gerstadt Child Care Center

The Gerstadt Child Care Center is located on Old York Road, directly across from Abington Memorial Hospital, near the intersection of Old York Road and Woodland Avenue. Opened in 2003, the Gerstadt Center provides convenient, on-site child care for Abington Memorial Hospital employees and students, who receive tuition discounts and priority enrollment.
